The small print, in plain English
Privacy notice
This explains what personal information I collect through this website, why, and what you can ask me to do with it. No jargon, and nothing sneaky.
Who I am
This website is run by Louis Ebanks, trading as EBGRO Advisory, based in Bedfordshire, UK. I'm the "controller" of your personal information, which means I decide how it's used and I'm responsible for looking after it.
Any questions about your data? Email me at uneaten-lanky-2d@icloud.com.
What I collect and why
When you request the free checklist
Your first name and email address, and whether you ticked the box to receive tips.
Why: to give you the checklist you asked for, and to keep a record that you asked for it. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in responding to your request.
Tips and updates: I'll only email you finance tips if you ticked the box. The legal basis is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by replying "unsubscribe" or using the link in any email.
When you book a call
Bookings are made through Calendly, which collects your name, email, the time you chose and anything you tell me in the booking form.
Why: to arrange and hold our call, and to follow up afterwards about working together. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before we might enter into a contract, and my legitimate interest in running my business.
When you just visit the site
Like any website, the servers that host it record basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type, for security and to keep the site running. I don't use analytics or advertising trackers.
Who else handles your data
I don't sell or share your details with anyone for their own marketing. I use a few trusted services to run the site, and they handle data on my behalf:
- Netlify hosts the website and stores checklist requests.
- Calendly handles call bookings.
- Google Fonts supplies the website's typeface, which means your browser connects to Google's servers.
- My email provider receives a notification when someone requests the checklist.
Some of these companies are based in, or store data in, the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by recognised safeguards, such as the UK–US data bridge or standard contractual terms approved for use in the UK.
Cookies
This site doesn't set its own cookies. The booking calendar is provided by Calendly, which may set cookies needed for it to work. You can read about these in Calendly's privacy notice.
How long I keep it
- Checklist requests: up to 2 years, then deleted, unless we've started working together.
- Tips list: until you unsubscribe. After that I keep only your email address on a "do not contact" list, so I don't accidentally email you again.
- Call bookings and client records: as long as needed for our work together, and for any period the law requires me to keep business records (usually 6 years for accounting records).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask me to:
- give you a copy of the information I hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete your information
- stop or limit how I use it, or object to me using it
- pass it to you or another organisation in a usable format
Just email me. I'll respond within one month, and there's no charge.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If I change how I use your information, I'll update this page. The date below shows when it was last changed.
